獲多益獎學金 英語只管開口說

國立高雄應用科技大學應用外語系學生許媚絢及蔡詩婷獲美國教育測驗服務社 (ETS)2010ETS多益獎學金。2人表示，學好英語訣竅是單字文法放旁邊，只管開口說。

My comments: An American friend of mine also told my students several years ago that the first thing they had to do, when it comes to learning English, is open their mouth and speak. Almost all the students in the Advanced English class I taught 8 years ago were fluent English speakers.

校方表示，2010ETS多益獎學金得獎名單分高中、高職、一般大學校院、技職大學校院及研究所等5類別，全國僅50名學生得獎，其中高應大外語系四年級許媚絢、一年級蔡詩婷分別在技職大學校院、高職類上榜。

許媚絢在唸斗六家商應用外語科時，積極參加英語活動競賽，通過英文檢定，進入大學後，踴躍報名參與語言中心比賽或到美語補習班工讀、擔任校內國際學生接待大使、高雄世運會大型賽事志工等，緊握每個開口說英語機會。

My comments: Instead of waiting for opportunity to come, an aggressive English learner takes advantage of all the possible resources around to practice English.

許媚絢表示，大學一年級開始加入羅浮團，指導偏遠地區國中小學童課業，發現城鄉英文程度落差大，決心將來要成為英語教育者，為偏鄉英語教學盡些力。所幸剛考取學校新設的英語專業溝通與教學科技碩士班，人生目標往前邁進。

蔡詩婷說，唸英文原是為逃避數學，卻愈來愈有興趣。學習英語經驗證明，開口說英文很重要，文法問題不用考慮太多，重要的是勇敢說出來。

在三信家商應外科求學時，蔡詩婷就曾代表學校接待外賓，也在高雄市國立科學工藝博物館擔任英譯志工，讓她了解英語口語化重要性，決定未來從事口譯工作，在不同文化間搭起溝通橋梁。
