A Good Gathering with Yung-chi

Yesterday I enjoyed a good chat over lunch with Yung-chi (王永奇), a former student who graduated from NHSH two years ago. During the gathering, I found him a boy with purpose of life and an inquisitive mind. Besides sharing with me what he'd like to do after graduating from college two years from now, Yung-chi told me a lot about what he learned while working part-time in a swimming equipment store, either from his own observation or from the senior salespeople. For example, when he saw a customer turn a price tag to see the price, he would tell him/her the discount for the product. I also got from him a few tips on choosing a swimming suit.

One thing he mentioned is interesting, the importance of music. As a customer, when he goes into a store without music, he will leave it quickly because feeling the clerks staring at him, he usually feels embarrasssed, while a store with music always keeps him longer because the music serves as kind of distraction, making him feel more at ease. Well, teachers do not necessarily know more than students in every aspect of life. Teachers can learn a lot from their students, just as adults can from children.

P.S. We'd better have our pictures taken sitting on the chairs. Yung-chi is 195cm tall!

P.S. According to his experience, repetition plays an important role in the acquisition of language.
