A Letter to Mother Nature

The following is an essay written by a student in Class 309 for the writing task given in the 5th Meow-meow practice test.

提示：近年來天災頻傳，大地在反撲，請寫一封信給大自然。文分兩段，第一段表達對大自然的歉意並描寫我們過去如何破壞周遭環境，第二段則述說未來我們要如何彌補大自然，以矯正之前所犯的過失。

Aug. 16, 2010  Dear Mother Nature, You send gentle breezes when the sun’s shining way too bright. You provide us with fresh air, which clears our mind and refreshes our souls. Yet we don’t show the least gratitude towards you; instead, we take you for granted, and even worse, we have been cruel and heartless towards you—we pollute your rivers, we cut off your trees. For that, we are deeply sorry. To show our sincerity and regret, we plan to end this massacre once and for all. We are going to plant more trees, prevent factories from releasing any kind of chemicals that would potentially harm you, and educate our children to protect and to cherish you, so that generations from now, you will live on, as youthful and pure as you once were.
