Comic Strips for Unit 10 "Fish Cheeks"

This morning in Class 214, 20 minutes before the end of the 2nd period of class, I had the students form pairs and draw a 8-panel comic strip for Unit 10. One in the pair is the cartoonist and the other the "director." The "director" has to give instructions in English, telling the cartoonist what to draw in each panel. The class did this happily and finished their work in 20 minutes.

I'll scan the strips and show them to the class. Better yet, I can later have each pair come to me and re-tell the story based on the strip they drew.

The purpose of this activity is to have students review not only the story but also the language items they learned in it.

When I was walking around the class, a student suggested that we could have Li-hsuen (陳立軒), a student good at drawing and designing, draw on the blackboard according to the English description from the whole class. This is a good suggestion because everyone can hear what others say.
