英文出題廣 留意重要時事、關鍵字

學測英文科出題廣泛，台北市松山高中英文老師許亞君表示，從近幾年趨勢看來，文學、科技，甚至美食都曾考過，考生平時要留意國內外大事，例如建國百年、日本地震引發海嘯及核能外洩、台北花博、科技業發展、歐債危機、全球暖化氣候變遷，甚至是蘋果電腦創辦人賈伯斯去世等，都有可能入題，考生要留意當中的關鍵字彙與用語。

時事題常出現陌生單字或是冗長句子，讓考生不容易掌握文意，政大英文系教授陳超明提醒考生切勿驚慌，找出每句話的主詞與動詞，將句子拆成小單元，暫時忽略不認識的單字，有時還是可以理解。

My comments: I always tell students that the verb is the soul of a sentence. Locate it first, and it will be easy to break the sentence into several meaningful units. Locating the verb helps students a lot when they are doing Cloze and Passage Completion.

為培養閱讀能力，陳超明建議考生，可上網找些知識性文章來讀，熟悉寫作方式與慣用語法，最好閱讀超過1千字的文章，訓練自己找出文章重點的能力，才能應付學測的大篇幅閱讀。

許亞君建議，考生在考前最後一個月，要天天閱讀英語文章，藉此培養「英文語感」，程度好或第一類組學生，每天讀4到5則，自然科或一般程度生一天約3則。

My comments: Yes, extensive reading! Except for the first part Vocabulary, what the exam consists of is reading passages.

此外，許亞君提醒考生，一定要練習近10年考古題，但不是死背，而是從中掌握出題方向；在限時壓力下練習，模擬考時情境。

My comments: My former students also said doing the past tests is very important. Two of them, who got over 90 in English on the UEE, told me that they did each past test three times.

許亞君表示，考生準備的字彙以5冊課本為主，想要拿更高分者，還可多背課外雜誌、老師整理的單字書，但能力、時間有限者，則要掌握課本單字。她也提醒考生，只背單字是不夠的，文法與片語也要掌握，現在分詞、轉折詞、假設語氣、助動詞等，學測都百考不膩。

陳超明指出，除單字，用法或上下文語意配合也很重要，例如曾出現faded（褪色），要從前面的dark brown顏色變成light brown，才能理解語意。另外，線索字也可幫助找答案，例如曾考到given one minute to _____ introduce，線索字就是one minute （短時間），答案就是briefly（簡短地）。
