張忠謀中大演講 教授勤筆記

台積電董事長、中央大學名譽博士張忠謀，昨天到中大演講時說，常聽人說愛拚才會贏，「我完全不同意，工作只是人生的一部分，不要超時工作，應把時間拿來經營家庭、朋友及興趣，對自己、家庭及工作有所承諾」。
My comments: Good point. Life should be multifaceted.
中大昨天舉辦企業人力資源成果發表會，開幕式邀請張忠謀演講「工作、生活、承諾」，吸引逾200名學者及學生，台下教授跟學生一樣勤作筆記。
張忠謀說，有次他的副總告訴他，很多員工在公司待到晚上8點、9點，「因為喜歡在公司吃飯，沒有配偶、家又小，在公司吃飯舒服點」，問他要不要乾脆放電影給員工看，他否決，「我不要參入員工生活」，不應把員工超時留在公司。
My comments: This is like what I told my class last week when some students suggested staying in school for evening study. I said to them that since they had spent ten hours in school on weekdays, they should go home and enjoy family life in the evening, even only thirty minutes eating dinner with their family before they did homework or studied.
「一個人的生活應還給他，這就是自由的意義。」張忠謀說，每個人每周工作不應超過50小時，只要40小時工作，「外面生活自己調配」。
學生提問55年職業生涯中，最有成就感的一件事。張忠謀妙答：「我人生每個階段都很有成就感。」學生問及他決定人員留用的特質，他說，除了專業能力、潛力，還需要認同台積電的基本價值，就是誠信、承諾、創新、夥伴。
My comments: As long as I go all out in everything I do, I feel a sense of achievement.
Expertise, potential, honesty, commitment, innovation, and partnership.
他送給學生「獨自思考、終身學習」8個字，他說，外語能力雖然很重要，「這8個字更重要，是我對年輕人最大的建議」。
My comments: Lifelong learning allows us to keep abreast of the times.
