The Power of the Written Word

In Unit 10 "The Teacher Who Changed My Life," Nicholas Gage mentioned he started to understand the power of the written word after his essay about the story of his family aroused sympathy among his classamtes and later won a medal in a contest, which brought glory to the Greek community.

I've always been under the spell of the written word.  I remember shedding tears over the story "Information Please," a scene in the book The Trumpet of the Swan, some articles in Reader's Digest, etc.  Also, I laugh at most jokes I read, get angry at some unbearable news, and feel deeply touched by inspiring stories and letters of love or appreciation.

Indeed, as the proverb goes, "The pen is mightier than the sword."  How I love words!
