Memorization Alone Isn't Enough

In yesterday's UDN, there were a few words from Ms. Doris Brougham, the founder of Studio Classroom, about English learning.  According to her, learning English is not all about memorizing sentences; rather, students should learn to think and judge.

Ms. Brougham suggested that elementary school English teachers encourage students to provide an ending to a story so that their students' imagination and creativity can be stimulated.  She also advised that teachers give students more time to think instead of just asking them to memorize and taking tests.

I can't agree more.
