如何準備學測及指考英文--鄭思恆學姐的經驗談

I intereviewed Ms. Se-heng Cheng on the phone about how she prepared for English on the SAT and the UEE. Se-heng, a classmate of Miranda, didn't go to cram school. She just followed the teachers in school. She did quite well on the UEE and is studying at NTU. Her UEE English score was 90.xx. The following is how she studied English in high school: She
1. listened to Studio Classroom. Even when she was in the 3rd year, she still listened to it every day. She would take the magazine to school and preview the lesson during the break and listened to the lesson at night.

2. made good use of time in school to do some reading or cloze practice.

3. read the textbook. She read the text aloud and marked the language chunks, which I always reminded the students to do.

4. Did the Meow-meow tests. She even studied each unit for three times. When asked if she felt bored, she said she often found it enjoyable.

5. Read English novels. She always had a novel in her drawer in school, so when she had time, she would take it out and read a few pages. Even when coming across some problems, she just kept reading.

6. memorized vocabulary 5000.

7. thought about the topic sentence and the outline before she started to write a composition.

8. read every article the teacher gave.

9. loved singing English songs. Before hanging up the phone, she reminded me to teach songs in class because singing songs delighted her and motivated her to learn English better. When asked what songs she loves most, she said, "Hero," "Perhaps Love," and "Whatever Will Be Will Be."
