About Poetry Recitation

Today I told Class 314 why I'd like them to recite the poem "The Road Not Taken" to me individually.  I don't want them to learn English just to pass the tests, be they the mid-terms, the finals, the UEE, or even TOEFL.   More than that, I want them to experience, to appreciate the beauty of the language.   Poetry is part of that beauty.  Since the beauty of a poem has to be conveyed through sounds, aside from images, similes, metaphors, etc., they have to recite it.

Their recitation will be counted as part of my assessment of them.

After my explanation, Ah-chun (王耀醇) said, "Thank you, Ma'am." I showed my appreciation for his understanding right away.
