The website name "elllo" stands for "English Listening Library Online." Created by Todd Beuckens, elllo so far has more than 2,000 lessons. Its main contents are audio dialogues or monologues, along with some video talks. Each listening unit has its transcript and audio notes, which "speaks" the definitions and more example sentences of the new words. After listening to the talk in a unit, users can take two quizzes, one for vocabulary and the other for comprehension. The vocabulary quiz takes the form of filling-in and the comprehension quiz gives multiple choice questions.
The language in all the units is natural and authentic, like what you expect in interviews. The speakers are from around the world, so you can hear English with different accents.
A study guide is offered. and the site map gives users an overall view of what's inside, which can be searched by level (Levels 1-7), topic, or country.
