省話王…大學生在怕什麼
關於吳念真導演演講時指出的「大學生省話王」，我非常的贊同。
我是學外文的大學生，學校的會話課，採取討論課的方式進行，由老師丟出一個議題，讓同學們跟老師對話練習。大部分同學都因為害羞、對自己沒有自信而不敢開口。
My comments: I also put much emphasis on students speaking in class. Generally speaking, those who participate actively have a better command of English.
然而有個從美國回來的外系旁聽學長，卻總是坐在老師面前，瘋狂的與老師對話，不禁讓我覺得我們到底在怕什麼？
My comments: According to my observation, some are lazy, others are afraid of making mistakes, and still others don't take speaking English seriously because they don't find it useful in their life.
其實我們不是沒有問題，但總因為畏懼他人的眼光而不敢提出，這也許和東方社會內斂的民族性有關。我在學校也擔任外語領域的助教，若是在講台上問有沒有問題，絕對不會有人舉手，不過有問題的同學，其實還是會趁下課的時候來問。
我認為我們在求知欲上其實是不輸別人的，只是需要一點信心、一點膽子，和一點勇氣。
My comments: A former student once told me that in his freshman English class, an American professor got very angry when he received no response to his question from the students.
