English Class in English--"師資設備佳 名校生不怕英聽"--from

I posted this news story not to discourage students in so-called underprivileged schools, but to invite teachers to create an English environment in school.

師資設備佳 名校生不怕英聽

相較於資源缺乏的偏鄉學校，位於台北市精華地段的私立復興實驗高級中學，是許多政商名流最愛，在師資、設備、教材上，都是高規格。國中部每周除6節英語課外，還會另加一堂由外籍教師授課的「分組課」，課堂上全程使用英文。

My comments: To have a native speaker is not a must for doing this kind of activity. With willingness to speak English, a good teaching plan, and some worksheets, any teacher can conduct a group-discussion class in English.

走進8年級分組課中的戲劇課堂，學生正分組以英文討論劇本，外籍老師則輪流至各組與學生交換意見，學生藉由與老師互動增進英文口說及聽力，也在有趣的課堂內容中，享受學英文樂趣。

My comments: The key is the chance to use English to communicate.

復興中學雙語部主任阮銀慈說，全校現共有19位外籍教師，針對不同年級開設各種「分組課」，採小班制教學，師生能有更多互動機會，課程內容則包含戲劇、美國文學等多元面向。

阮銀慈表示，學生長期處於英文環境，加上每周固定測驗英聽，升學考試增加英聽測驗對復興學生而言不是問題，將能成為優勢。

My comments: All the above can be done by non-native-speaker teachers.
