Reading Aloud in English Learning

One way to help English learners remember longer what they've learned is by reading aloud. I usually suggested students read a sentence or part of a long sentence silently, look up, and say it aloud, as if they were an anchorperson reporting news. In the first place, one needs to understand a sentence in order to break it into meaningful units. This is the foundation of memory. Second, the sound the learners make reinforces their memory of what they read aloud. Last, reading aloud itself is fun, and people usually remember fun things for a longer time. Not only the rhythmic beauty of English is enjoyable, but the feeling that they're speaking the language brings life to the learning experience.
