指考衝刺╱英文多練考古題 背實用佳句

要衝刺指考英文，英文老師指出，每天都要閱讀英文，提升閱讀的速度，不只背單字，更要了解單字、片語等如何運用；且每周至少要練習寫2到3篇作文，以維持寫作的熟練度。

My comments: Almost all my former students who got over 90 on the UEE had the habit of doing extra reading even in their senior year, when they were bombarded with quizzes or tests every day. They read readers, Studio Classroom, Reader's Digest, TIME, novels, or even Fortune.

台北市松山高中英文老師許亞君表示，倒數1個月，可將6冊課文好好復習一遍，大考中心公布的「高中英文參考詞彙」7千字英文詞彙中，至少要掌握5、6千字。補教老師齊斌認為其中難度第3及4級的字彙，一定要多看；第5和6級有些重要且常用的詞彙，更要熟記。

My comments: If I were to take the UEE, I would print out the vocabulary list and test myself on 100 words per day from Levels 4-6. A very simple self-test, seeing an English word and recall its Chinese meaning.

許亞君說，考生不要只是死背單字，要連例句一起看，也就是還要知道單字的動詞時態、片語等，搭配課本或參考書例句、文法一起學習，融會貫通。

她表示，指考英文考的是閱讀能力，平常就要養成讀長篇文章的習慣，這1個月也要天天讀，多閱讀可提升閱讀的速度，並建議考生練習近5到10年考古題，讓自己熟悉考題難易度、題型；因為考試時間只有80分鐘，也要模擬考試情境，80分鐘內要寫完。

My comments: According to my own experience, doing the past tests is of great help. Finish one past test in 80 minutes, writing included.

因為指考100年起取消倒扣，齊斌說，選擇題中的文意選填和篇章結構難度增加，文意選填12個選項要挑出10個，篇章結構6項要挑出5項，建議考生答題時先很快看一遍，抓出最可能的幾個選項、刪去最不可能的選項，就能排出正確的答案。

My comments: For these two parts, I taught my students an effective strategy. When doing Passage Completion and Discourse Structure, start with the choices. For example, when doing Passage Completion, write beside each choice its word case(s). This limits the options you can choose from for a blank based on the context and hence not only saves time but simplifies the task. 

閱讀測驗方面，齊斌說，考生務必學會抓重點。文章的第一段，最後一段以及每段文章的第一句和最後一句，多半是重點，也可先看後面的問題再回頭找重點，有助於掌握細節及文章的主旨。

My comments: The same tips I gave to my students.

寫作文時，齊斌建議考生先擬寫作大綱，寫個人意見，動詞要用現在時態，經驗或故事則用過去時態，不要混淆。

My comments: The one minute spent writing an outline helps generate and organize the ideas. To convince my students that an outline wouldn't take them a long time, I once asked them not to do anything for one minute and successfully made them believe they could do a lot in one minute.

寫作不只單字、句型、文法要用對，言之有物才能得高分，建議考生多背佳句或一些實用句型，考試時即可靈活運用。

My comments: Nevertheless, avoid using cliches, such as "It goes without saying."
