The following is the essay which scored the highest among the nearly 70 essays I graded. It is the original. There are only a few mistakes, which were underlined. You might like to guess why I marked some words blue.

If it were possible, I’d like to have a conversation with Martin Luther King. I’ve read his speech “I have a dream” several times and have also seen him give the speech on a clip posted on Youtube. His confident manner and the emotion he put into his words is what convinces people that there is hope. The way he spoke about his dram of harmony between races and peace throughout the nation spurs people to believe that they can make a difference, and that they can make history by defeating racial discrimination with their firm beliefs of a better tomorrow. It is because of his profound impact on human rights that I would like to talk with him.
I would first express my admiration of him, and share my thoughts about his speech. I’d praise him for his bravery and, more importantly, his graceful yet vigorous manner when talking to a crowd. I would later ask him what skills or methods he used when leading such an event, and such a crowd. I’d like to know what advice he’d give to all the leaders worldwide, and the thoughts he had about leadership. I hope that our conversation would be pleasant, and that by the end of it, we’ll know more about life in each other’s time zone. (218 words) (309 張世仁) (18)
