Today I came across a book in the bookstore, 上哈佛真正學到的事 (Harvard Style). It was written by 姜仁仙 (Kang In-Sun), a Korean journalist and translated by 蕭素菁. On the cover are the words as follows:
在哈佛求學,
改變了我讀書學習的態度。
讀書,並不是「把東西塞入腦中」,
而是「把習慣帶在身上」﹗
哈佛模式,不是秘密,
是世界前1%領導者的好習慣!
I can't agree more. As an English teacher, what I most want to see students do is get into the habit of reading English books and magazines. I told one of my classes again the other day that once they can use English as a tool to communicate with the world, whether by getting information from the Internet or by reading English novels or magazines, they will naturally have a good command of the English language.
The tile of the second chapter of this book is 哈佛人的大學生活法則。Nine principles were listed:
1. 做好時間管理
2. 和教授親近
3. 均衡選修多樣課程
4. 選擇習題和考試多的科目
5. 組成學習小組
6. 對作文多花點心思
7. 學習外國語
8. 投入與讀書無關的課外活動
9. 有問題一定要問
