日研究:上課排排坐 教不出創意

新北市秀山國小校長林文生昨在全國教育局處長會議座談中,引述日本東京大學教育系教授佐藤學研究結果說,「教室排排坐,學生上課只聽老師講,只能培養聽命令組裝的製造業人才。」

My comments: Personally, I don't really like this way of seating.  That's why in the year before last, when I was teaching juniors, I sometimes had the students sit in groups and I found that was good for classroom dynamics.

My comments on Aug. 18: On second thought, I think sitting in rows and lines are not really bad.  It depends on the activity.

全國教育局處長會議昨天舉行,其中「高峰對話」由老師、校長談十二年國教。林文生指出,去年一位馬里蘭大學教授問他:「為何台灣學校的教室都排排坐?這對學生合作學習很不利。」

My comments: However, when I was studying at UIUC, we also sat in lines and rows.

林文生說,歐美的教室是大桌子,四到六位學生坐在一起;台灣教室都是排排坐。佐藤學的研究指出,歐美教室沒有排排坐,但在以考試為主的東亞常見,且上課模式以老師教為主,而非學生參與

林文生表示,現在所謂名師,就是「老師很會講」,但上課都是老師講,學習效果好的是老師,不是學生

My comments: This is what I once told my students.  When not getting response, I told the class that they were the one who needed to practice speaking English and that the reason why I could speak fluently was that I spoke English in every class.

他引述佐藤學的研究,傳統講授的上課方式,教出來的學生適合聽命令和以組裝為主的製造業,不利創新,造成日本產業崩跌主因。

林文生說,教學要轉型,從「老師教」變成「學生學習」,學生討論和操作的比率至少要超過五成。他也說,新北市會選出廿所學校,除了培訓老師,空間安排也會從排排坐,改成歐美式的大桌子上課。

My comments: Good!  We can have some change!
