Acting Out--A Post-reading Activity

311 activity

In the picture, the students on the platform were acting out a poem the class just learned.  The girl on the left was reading the poem.

Acting out is a fun activity to do after students read a story, be it in the form of prose or poem.

Last semester, after I taught the poem "To a Daughter Leaving Home" by Linda Pastan, I asked the students to form a group of three, one being the narrator, the other two the actors, and act the poem out.  They have a few minutes to practice and I randomly picked some groups to give the show.
