雜誌調查6成國中生 放學後不主動學習

12年國教103年上路，但國中生的學習狀況如何？根據《親子天下》雜誌公布的「國中生學習力大調查」顯示，近6成國中生放學後，除了上補習班之外，不再學習新知；如果不考試，只有2成2學生會主動念書。

My comments: Years ago, I asked a junior class the question: When do you study English? All the students except one answered on their quiz books that they studied the day before a test. That one student wrote, "I study English every day. I don't study only for the test." He didn't go to cram school, so had time to study. His persistence impressed me a lot. In his third year, every night after he got home around 10 o'clock from evening study at school, he took a bath and listend to Advanced English at 10:30. He got early admission to the Department of Electrical Engineering at Tsing-hua University and is now pursuing his PhD degree at the same school.

調查顯示，過半數學生坦承學習動機不強，近8成老師也同意這樣的看法，更有6成孩子，放學後不再主動求知，對讀課外書或培養興趣意興闌珊。廢除基測後，會不會降低國中生的學習動力？7成8的學生說不會主動讀書，而且年級越高的學生越不想學。

My comments: The more they study, the less they want to learn. What spoils these students' interest in learnng? Or is it the computer games or the cyber world that distracts them from learning? This is a big issue to deal with.

調查顯示，三分之一國中生對自己的學習成果不滿意，且年級越高越不滿意。近四分之一學生，無法聽懂老師的上課內容，且近3成學生對自己沒有信心，且年級越高，對自己越沒信心。

My comments: This is a serious problem!

在八大領域的學習中，學生說，最討厭的科目前三名為數學、自然與生活科技、英文，最喜歡的則是時數少的藝能課程，包括健康與體育、藝術人文和綜合活動。

親子天下總編輯何琦瑜表示，國中生每天在校8節課，加上晚上補習，一天要花12到13小時學習，心志都被磨損耗盡，根本「無力」再學習，表現出「身體在教室，心卻不知道飄到哪裡」的狀況，成為「從學習中逃走」的無動力世代。

My comments: It's an irony that our eduacation is de-educating our students. To begin with, many students are not confident about doing things well on their own, but have to depend on going to cram school. Moreover, quite a few students would rather get early admission to a college they don't really like because they don't want to spend three more months preparing for the entrance exam in early July, which they deem to be more difficult than the SAT. Isn't the purpose of education to nurture confidence and courage in students?

何琦瑜指出，國中生若一開始學習受挫，往後如果沒有給予協助，跟不上學習的程度會更嚴重，年級越高的學生，越不能跟上同儕的學習腳步。

至於國中生喜歡與討厭的科目，何琦瑜說，國文、社會科可以用死記活背學習，但數學與自然需要理解，對學生來說較吃力；喜歡的科目都是藝能科，顯示國中生喜歡動手做、有參與感的課程。

這份調查針對國中7、8、9年級學生與老師，學生回收有效問卷3594份，老師691份。
