Graduation Trip--the Last Day

Today we are in Yamay (月眉育樂世界).  The students must be exhilarated enjoying all the recreational facilities in the park.  Guess whether I'll take any exciting ride?  I won't ride the roller coaster.  That's for sure.

This entry was kept on Tuesday, June 22, too.

Graduation Trip--the Second Day

Today we're going to stay at Sitou, one of my favorite resort.  I love the bamboo forests there.

This entry was also pre-written on Tuesday, June 22.

Today I'm with my dear students on their graduation trip.  We are going to Sun Moon Lake and  Formosan Aboriginal Culture Village.

I prewrote this entry on Tuesday, June 23  in case I can't find a computer, or even if I can but cannot get connected to the Net.

The Most Important Thing School Should Teach Students

The week before last, I had my homeroom class choose from three topics to write on in their weekly journal: The Book Which Influences Me Most, Ms. Lee, Listen to Me, and The Most Important Thing School Should Teach Students.

A Reflection by a Student on "All You Have Is What You Bring With You"

The other day I gave the students an article to read, entitled "All You Have Is What You Bring With You." It is from Dr. Pausch's The Last Lecture. After reading it, they were required to write either their reflection or a letter to Dr. Pausch. Most of them did a good job. Here is an essay from a student in Class 209.

Studying Efficiently--黃立/勤做筆記 訂行事曆 讀書有效率

The following is a video on how to study efficiently. It is a 2-minute interview of a student who got a 75 ranking score in this year's SAT and was admitted to the medical school of NTU.

Mr. Huang's study tips include how he arranged his books so he could find what he needed in the shortest time, how he used different colors in taking notes, how he made study plans, etc.

The interview is preceded by a 15-second commercial.

To Stand on the World Stage, plus the Fringe Benefits of Hard Times--李嗣涔勉台大人:立志做世界級人才

NTU president

Cheng chung-hua

Yesterday I intended to write another entry about the NTU graduation ceremony today, this time summarizing the two speeches I listened to in the morning, one by NTU President Dr. Si-chen Lee (李嗣涔校長) and the other by the guest speaker, Chung-hua Cheng (鄭崇華先生), President of Delta. Today's UDN happens to give a report on the two speeches.

Touched

I was touched when I got Spencer's phone call this evening asking me if I'll be at the NTU graduation ceremony tomorrow. If yes, he would like to have a photo taken with me. He remembered that my son is graduating from graduate school this year and assumed that I'll go to the ceremony. "Yes, I'll be there," I answered.  "Even if it were not because of my son, at your invitation, I'd definitely go," I added.
