Grammar Activity

Today, when teaching the grammar point: S + order/command/suggest/require/ask + that + S (should) + V, I had the students work in pair and each ask their partner to do something. Then they had to tell everyone what their partner asked them to do using this new pattern. The following is an example:

T: Now ask or order your partner to do something.

S1 (to S2): Clean my shoes.

T (to S2): What did S1 order you to do?

S2: She ordered that I clean her shoes.

When doing this practice, the focus is on the pattern, not the words. Of course, it would be more challenging if students have to use the words they've just learned.
