在线牛津搭配词典

Collocation used to be what I emphasized in teaching English. In the first class every semester, I would tell students to mark chunks in their readings. For example, in Chinese, the verbs in the following phrases are the same: "開," write a check, open an account, give sb. a ticket, fly a plane, turn on the TV, etc., but in English, different verbs go with different nouns.

I bumped into the above website this afternoon. By keying in an English word, the dictionary will list most possible combinations, which are organized in a systematic way. For example, the following is the page for "diary."

Give it a try. It's interesting!
