A former student of mine Hsuan-an (賴旋安) got a 104 on TOEFL. The full mark is 120. The threshold for getting into the graduate school of Electric Engineering at University of California, Berkeley is 100. He told my class last year that he didn't go to cram school for TOEFL. All he did was listen to Scientific American and read three English novels. I found that while listening to SA, one can expand one's vocabulary in different topics.
