嘉大英文營 不說abc要退營

嘉義大學大學部新生前天到明天，於蘭潭校區舉辦4天3夜「嘉義大學樂活英文營」，49名學員簽署「語言誓約」，承諾只用英文溝通，違者退營，並需上各組的facebook（臉書）交流、分享，充滿趣味與挑戰。

My comments: The Language Pledge requires all the participants to use only English during the time at the camp. Cool! Considering applying it to my class, though I've already tried every means to encourage students to speak English. 

「營造全英文營隊環境，讓學員開口說英文，學英文變簡單。」語言中心吳靜芬主任表示，英語能力是嘉大畢業門檻之一。

My comments: A former student of mine, who is on his around-half-the world trip now, told me that when it comes to English learning, listening and speaking should always come before reading and writing.

「好興奮！」動科系新生任婕表示，第1天昆蟲館之旅，輔導員以英文介紹昆蟲特色和習性時，自己居然可以聽懂85％以上內容。

My comments: It was a fun experience.

電機系新生游乃華說，「語言誓約是一個很棒的營隊規定，嘗試後發現原來沒有想像中困難。」學員提到，參與英文營有助於激發英文潛能，熟悉環境，還結識許多新朋友。明天學員將用英語表達4天營隊的心得感言。
