With All Your Heart

with all your heart

How I love these four words!

When I first heard the words at the meeting last Friday during the speech given by Ms. Wong (翁玉華老師), I fell in love with them. This is inscribed in the base of the statue of Ba Jin, a distinguished Chinese writer of the 20th century, on the campus of the High School Affiliated to Nanjing Normal University.

Its best English equivalent I can think of is "with all your heart." Yes. When we do things with all our hearts, it is more likely to be done well. I told Class 314 last year that I taught with all my heart, just as they studied with all their hearts. I felt good when saying it, believing there would be no regret, at least.
