Advice from An-yu, a former student

Yesterday morning, An-yu (彭安愉), a former student who graduated 5 years ago came to visit me. We had a long chat until around 3pm. In our talk, she said it was not until she graduated from college and went to work that she realized how wonderful and easy it was to be a student. One point she mentioned was very interesting: In school, students have 40 points to be taken off from the full score before they are flunked; however, at work, one point loss can cost you the job.

When talking about her college life, she suggested students study in a comprehensive university. Her reason is that students in such a school can take courses in many different fields instead of only having limited choices. For example, even if you are a medical student, in a comprehensive university, you can take courses in literature, social studies, business, management, science, etc.

Usually when I talk with students I find they become wiser as they grow. In fact, some words from them are gems of wisdom.
