Ways to Learn English Listening Skills--FB Forum

(Click the photo to enlarge it.)

On January 4 this year, I opened a forum on my FB page to discuss ways to learn English listening skills. Here's a summary list of the responses, followed by photos of what really happened at the forum. Almost all the responses came from my former NHSH students.

1. Sufficient exposure to spoken English.

2. Making friends with native speakers.

3. Listening to English songs.

4. Listening to CNN/BBC.

5. Watching DVD movies or online movie series without Chinese titles.

6. Living with English.

7. Watching ESPN.

8.  Taking a dictation from all sorts of English materials, like Scientific American 60 seconds, 60 sec mind podcast, and EnglishCentral. Transcripts are important because you can check if what you write down is correct.

My comments: TED is also a very good listening material.

9. Listening to BBC UK China (潮流英語).

10. Shadowing.
