Here is another student's essay on the most influential sentence. This sentence is also one of my favorites.

“When you really want something, the whole universe conspires in helping you to achieve it,” the old king said to the shepherd.

This is a sentence etched in my mind since I read The Alchemist a few months ago. The alchemist, having been a world-famous classic for decades, is about a shepherd’s odyssey in pursuing his treasure. In fact, it was my second time to read this book. And it was at this second reading that I found such inspiring sentence that meant a lot to me.

The sentence from The Alchemist has been my motto ever since. I’ve always pined for entering a prestigious college, and the words from The Alchemist give me confidence, ensuring me that I’m not alone on my path toward my goal. But most important of all, I have to make an arduous effort to realize my dream. Gratefully, the sentence from The Alchemist has also been the spur that always pushes me forward. I believe as long as I want enough, somehow I can be successful, just like the shepherd in the story, never giving up and finally finding my treasure. (187 words) (30103)
