12-year compulsory education has been a hot issue recently. Do you agree with it or not?

「若可讓家長放心就推動，但如果問題滿大的，就要審慎思考。」這是行政院長江宜樺對十二年國教的評論。家長，竟然成了影響升學制度的關鍵人物。
教育的主體是學生，政策卻忙著取悅家長，已夠令人費解，更別提這段吵吵鬧鬧的日子裡，有在傾聽家長的聲音嗎？
My comments: In my opinion, the goal of education should be to help students build up their capacity, boost their confidence, find their passion, and carry out the good.
我是家長，我支持十二年國教。自從知道孩子不必考基測，我太開心了。我同意免試入學的會考三級距，搭配其他多元指標，能讓他進入適合他的學校。我認為菁英教育的主戰場，並不在高中，為維持明星學校的血液純淨，在政策上退讓是愚蠢的。我深信協助高中職在教學特色與型式上改善，才是重點，好讓孩子帶著自我開發與自主學習的能力進大學。
My comments: A niece of mine told me the other day that she hated her third year of junior high school. One of the reasons was that her life was packed with tests. All I could say to comfort her was "Take the ordeal as a step to the next stage." I really like Randy Pausch's heading for a chapter in The Last Lecture: Don't Complain. Just Work Harder.
我的孩子是不上不下的中等生，在常態分配上，這類的學生占比最高。我接受他在全力以赴之下，依然不很亮麗的學業表現，從不期待他會出人意表考上建中。
My comments: When Andy, a former student of mine who is studying music at Musicians' Institute in California, showed me photos of his music teachers or friends in the States and told me how smart they were, looking at those beaming faces, I thought to myself, "If these guys had received their education here in Taiwan, would they have achieved so much in music?"
在減壓的氛圍下，他心情輕鬆，但不小看成績，考壞了會想弄懂哪裡出了問題。我觀察他的發展，可能還是得念綜合高中繼續探索，希望他能正常表現考上社區高中。
My comments: Wherever one is, attitude is everything.
很多家長寧願回到基測，也不歡迎十二年國教，最可能的擔憂是懼怕不公平，怕自己的孩子明明有實力，卻被制度犧牲進入「爛學校」。當家長的態度如是，孩子在為分數拚鬥的情緒中，有多少成分是為了自己？
如果升學制度的改變，是為了替壓力鬆綁，拜託家長們先鬆開掐住自己的手。我不是暗樁，不是說客，只是願意相信十二年國教的運作，能促進高中職的品質均化。
請把學習主控還給孩子，讓他們在不斷變化的環境中，學會見招拆招的適應力，和為自己努力的主動性。這才是送給他們一生受用的最好禮物。
