1周1全英語課 國際志工大家搶

市長賴清德要求下學期起國中小每周要有1堂全英文課程，許多學校都為此傷腦筋。不過，安平國中因引入國際志工，每周1節自修課，都是全英語的國際文化課程，羨煞許多學校，也想申請國際志工到校。

My comments: When I taught at NHSH, I used to invite my American friend Konraad to each of my classes when they were in their second or third year. Students really enjoyed having conversation with a native speaker of English. The day before Konraad's visit, I always asked my students to write a question they'd like to ask on a piece of paper and hand it in to me for correction so that they would have confidence in asking the question. I insisted on paying NT$1,200 for each class though Konraad said I didn't need to, because he taught that period of class for me and because any income for someone who lived abroad would definitely help.

要落實全英語課程，除涉及師資、經費，還要考量學生的程度。有國中校長表示，一個班級約有1/3學生英文能力較佳，若用全英語教學，部分英文學習力較弱的學生，可能跟不上，因此還需好好規畫課程。用逐步的方式增強聽力，並且敢說。

全英語課程除了英文課外，若其他領域課程老師有能力，也可以用英語上課。復興國中校長林茂生說，該校便鼓勵部分非英語科教師用全英語教學。

My comments: This is content-based language teaching, in which the target language is used as a tool in class.

安平國中5年前引進國際志工，4年前開始深化教學。將一、二年級每周1節的自修課，由國際志工進入班級，以全英語上國際文化課程；介紹母國文化、習俗、餐飲、觀光等。

My comments: Interesting!

校長陳進明說，過去學生看到國際志工不敢開口，現在則會主動聊天，而教育會考成績，也看到孩子的進步，「高分群提高，低分群也墊高。」
