Solo, a student I taught around 12 years ago, and Samuel, who I got to know six weeks ago as his substitute teacher, had their first encounter this evening. The moment I learned Samuel was crazy about music, I decided to introduce him to Solo, who was studying music in the States and would be back in Taiwan on vacation around Christmas. And today, getting the two music-loving souls connected made me feel on the top of the world. When I watched/listened to them improvise a duet on the piano, it was a moment of ecstasy.
As a teacher, I not only teach English but also try to help students find something, if not more, then as precious in their life.
