英文／熟背單字 練習考古題

5000詞彙少不了
大學學測英文科，每年都考倒不少學生。距離考試剩下半個多月，英文老師表示，學測英文會考4500至5000個英文詞彙，除了熟背大考中心公布的英文詞庫單字，考前至少要把近五年學測英文考古題做一遍，熟悉學測命題方式。

大學學測英文作文占20分，是考生英文能否拿高分的關鍵。但近幾年學測英文作文，幾乎都有上萬人考零分。補教英文老師建議，至少留20到30分鐘寫作文，而且用最簡單、最有把握的單字和句型來寫，不要刻意賣弄用艱澀文句。
My comments: According to research done by CEEC, most essays which scored above 18 used high frequency words, words which are most frequently used, instead of "big"words. What matters is the content and the organization. Students can write a good essay even with the words they learned in junior high school.
學測英文非選擇題今年改電腦閱卷，英文老師提醒考生，務必用黑色原子筆寫翻譯和作文，而且要用筆芯較粗的0.5到0.7黑色原子筆，且至少準備兩隻備用。
My comments: Be over-prepard.
掌握基本文法和句型
文法也是考前準備的一大重點，學測英文「綜合測驗」和「文意選填」，主要就是考文法觀念，齊斌建議考前一定要複習並熟悉基本文法和句型。他舉例，動詞時態、關係代名詞(who、which、that)、關係副詞(where、when)、不定詞(to + V)、動名詞(Ving)和「so…that…(如此…以致於)」、「not…until(直到…才)」等常考題型，考生一定要弄懂。
至於答題技巧，「綜合測驗」和「文意選填」，就可從上下文了解文法和字詞用法。「閱讀測驗」大約考3到4篇文章，主題涵蓋各學科甚至時事，文章也很長，考生要能抓住文章重點，若有看不懂的單字或句子，可從上下文來推測。
學測英文科考試時間有100分鐘，往年幾乎都考56題選擇題、兩題翻譯題和一篇作文。補教英文老師Ringo建議，理想的時間分配是選擇題55分鐘、非選擇題35分鐘，再留10分鐘檢查。
My comments: The test starts at 9:20AM and ends at 11:00AM. So the time could be allotted as follows:
9:20-10:15 Multiple choice
10:15-10:50 Writing
10:50-11:00 Check
英文單字部分，學測大約考高中常用的4500字。Ringo表示，題中通常會有提示，而且升大學考試英文詞彙重複率很高，考前兩周，最保險的作法是把歷屆考題中，第一、二、三大題選項中的單字、片語背下來。如果還有多餘時間，再把這三個大題題目中不會的單字也背下來。
My comments: Here I'd like to thank Ms. Chang (張美雲老師), who provided the studetns with the lists of important words which appeared on the past SAT.
他提醒，英文很重視邏輯思考和判斷能力，考生要多複習因果關係、時間關係、先後順序等，其中「因果關係」最常考。去年學測詞彙題，就有一半以上的考題屬於這類題型。
今年作文可能看圖說故事
Ringo表示，過去三年學測英文作文題型不太一樣，97年要考生寫一封信，考應用文。98年用一張照片，要考生看圖說故事；99年則是用四張連環圖，以開放式結局方式，讓考生自由發揮。他認為今年很有可能出看圖說故事，考生時態最好用「過去式」，並替文章主角取名字增加說服力。
My comments: These are also the strategies I suggested to my students.
齊斌說，英文作文常考引導式作文，通常分成2段，至少要寫120字。他建議作文主題要明確，一開頭就破題切入主題，內容也要言之有物、合乎邏輯。
My comments: If the topic sentence of a paragraph is given, students are expected to give supporting sentences, or the main body. A good conclusion is definitely a plus. Unity and coherence are two important elements in a good piece of writing. Besides, students had better spend 3-5 minutes making a rough outline before they start writing.
