英檢每年進步100分 多益達人分享秘訣

人生第一次多益(TOEIC)英檢成績605分，第二年700分，第三年820分，如此優異的教學績效發生在新北市德霖技術學院。

就讀德霖技術學院應用英語系的陳怡均同學，2年前抱著姑且一試的心情，嘗試人生中的第一次多益考試。在沒有特別準備之下，考了605分，興奮之餘也開始認真思索如何能有效提升多益成績。在英應系賴淑芬主任的建議下，陳同學於暑假閒暇時間，利用西洋影集學習英文。

My comments: A professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at NTU told me several years ago that he was still learning English through movies. He always watched English movies on TV with a pen and a notebook at hand so that he could jot down new expressions. A professor at NTNU also learned English through movies when he was in high school. He would watch a movie twice. The first time, he watched the movie; then, for the second time, he closed his eyes and just "listened to" the movies.

「第一次看影片的時候，我都先用英語發音搭配中文字幕。第二次我會把它調成英語發音英文字幕。第三遍次我還是設定成英語發音英文字幕，但這一次當我遇到不懂的單字時，我會拿起遙控器暫停影片，隨時查閱身旁的電子字典。到了第四次我就會把影片調成英語發音而沒有字幕，純粹訓練自己的聽力。」德霖應英系多益達人陳同學如此表示。

My comments: Wow! Watching the same movies four times to learn English. This morning, on the front page I saw a line of words by Wu Pao-chun (吳寶春), who won "the Master Baker title for 2010 in the "bread"category at the Boulangerie World Cup":

"Someone asked me if it was because of my talent that I won the title of Bakery Master. My answer was no. I am more stupid than others. Because I am stupid, I had to work harder than others, and that was why I succeeded." (有人問我，我做麵包可以拿到世界冠軍，是因為天分嗎？我回答不！我比別人笨，因為笨，我要比別人更努力，所以我成功了。)

近年來，教育部大力推動提升英語教學成效，鼓勵各技職體系學校設立英語能力畢業門檻。對技職校院的學生來說，獲得多益(TOEIC)英語能力證照，不僅代表其英語能力獲得公正機關的認證，更可以提高在就業職場上的競爭力。

在教育部98-99年度教學卓越計畫補助下，德霖技術學院應用英語系連續舉辦三梯次的「多益英檢輔導營」與「校內多益檢定考試」，協助全校學生取得440張多益證照，成果十分豐碩。

英應系賴淑芬主任表示，「天下沒有白吃的午餐，英語能力並不會自己平白無故的有所長進，相反地，只要願意花時間、花精力在這上面，一定會有所回饋的，陳怡均同學的成就，就是最佳寫照」。

My comments: Agreed. As a line of the song "Something Good" in the movie "The Sound of Music" goes, "Nothing comes from nothing. Nothing ever could."
