Max's speech

Today Max came to talk to my classes. He talked to Classes 306 and 316 in the 1st session at Lecture Room I and to Class 314 in the 2nd session in their classroom. Without a doubt, he is an eloquent speaker. Not only my students but also I were deeply attracted to him. And he very generously put his PowerPoint on his blog. Here it is.

Here I'd like to list some points in his speech that impressed me most:

1. When you are doing something you hate, you don't have the strength. So change your attitude. Do not take studying as something you do for the exam, but something you do to acquire knowledge.

2. Prepare for the exam in the most efficient way. And this principle can be applied to other aspects of life.

3. Think critically. Do not believe in everything the teacher says. You should have the courage to challenge authority.

4. Ask yourself, "Have you worked hard enough?"

5. Do not make the same mistake again.

6. Even if you fail the exam, you will not die. So do not take it too seriously. But you have to work hard for the exam.

7. Know yourself. What do you want in life? What do you want to do? What do you care most? Understand your own worth. You have to be responsible for your own life. Your parents will leave you, your loved one will leave you, and your friends will leave you. What kind of life do you want?

8. If someone looks down upon you and sees you as stupid and worthless, prove that they are wrong.

This list is not comprehensive but helpful, I believe.
